China's First LoongArch-Based Agricultural SoC -Agri-Core No.1- Successfully Tape-Outs, Breaking Import Dependence for Smart Farming Chips

A landmark breakthrough has been achieved in China’s smart agriculture chip sector. Jointly developed by Jiangsu University and Loongson Technology, Agri-Core No.1, the country’s first dedicated agricultural SoC chip built on the self-developed LoongArch architecture, has officially completed tape-out. The new chip effectively resolves long-standing industrial pain points including heavy reliance on imported agricultural chips, poor environmental adaptability and mismatched interface specifications, empowering the independent and controllable development of China’s smart agriculture industry.
Tailored for extreme and complex farm operation scenarios, Agri-Core No.1 features outstanding industrial-grade environmental adaptability with excellent high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, seismic resistance and impact resistance. Equipped with multi-type adaptive interfaces, efficient data processing capability and ultra-stable operational performance, the chip can be widely deployed in diversified smart agriculture scenarios, including precision farming, intelligent greenhouse cultivation and automated agricultural machinery. It ensures the continuous and stable operation of agricultural equipment under high-intensity and harsh environmental working conditions, filling the domestic gap in dedicated agricultural core chips.
The launch of Agri-Core No.1 marks a key practical achievement of Loongson’s “Hundred-Chip Plan”. During the project development cycle, Loongson Technology fully supported the independent research and development of the chip by openly providing core IP resources for free. The professional technical guidance covered the entire industrial chain, including chip design, manufacturing, packaging and testing, laying a solid technical foundation for the smooth tape-out and mass production preparation of the agricultural dedicated SoC.

Looking ahead, Jiangsu University and Loongson Technology will further deepen strategic cooperation. Both parties will integrate industry and education resources through experimental teaching, discipline competitions, graduation design projects and scientific research programs, to cultivate professional technical talents and support students in conducting in-depth research, development and application exploration of LoongArch-based technologies, continuously empowering the iterative upgrading and industrial innovation of domestic smart agriculture chips.
