The smart glasses are the result of a multi‑party collaboration. Google has partnered with Korean high‑end trendy eyewear brand Gentle Monster and U.S. vision care brand Warby Parker for the exterior design, while Samsung is responsible for developing innovative device hardware and user experience. The product will be compatible with both Android and iOS devices.
This project was first hinted at during the Android Ecosystem Launch in December 2025, where Google revealed two R&D tracks for AI smart glasses together with Samsung, Gentle Monster, and Warby Parker. At I/O 2026, the company confirmed a fall 2026 release timeline.
Gemini Intelligence rolling out across Android devices
On May 12, Google officially launched Android‑based Gemini Intelligence, which integrates high‑end hardware with innovative software to proactively and efficiently handle everyday tasks. The features of Gemini Intelligence will be rolled out in phases: first arriving on the latest Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones this summer, and later expanding to all Android devices including watches, cars, glasses, and laptops by the end of the year.

Chinese supply chain players make strategic moves
As AI glasses become one of the most watched hardware categories at Google I/O 2026, several Chinese supply chain companies have recently disclosed their progress, with components such as chips, IP, and solutions seeing accelerated adoption.
-
Halo Microelectronics stated that it has already been integrated into the AI glasses supply chain of leading brands including Thunderbird, Yijing, Meta, and Kwak, while maintaining a stable cooperative relationship with Google. The company noted that for future Qualcomm‑platform‑based AI glasses, brand manufacturers will prioritize Halo Microelectronics as a supporting supplier, using its self‑developed power management chips and port protection solutions.

VeriSilicon, leveraging its past collaboration with Google on the Open SeCura open‑source project, has jointly developed an ultra‑low‑power Coral NPU IP based on the RISC‑V instruction set, targeting on‑device large language model (LLM) applications. Under this partnership, Google provides open‑source technology, while VeriSilicon supplies enterprise‑grade IP, chip design, and mass production services, delivering "lightweight, always‑on, ultra‑low‑power"edge AI solutions for smart glasses and similar devices.
